The sequel to the world’s most popular Android smartphone is just about here. That’s right: the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be released within the next few weeks, and vague rumors have turned into verified sources.
With that in mind, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Galaxy S4 (and yes, you should get excited):
Eye scrolling feature
In the future, we may not use mice, keyboards, or any sort of handheld input device. Instead, we’ll control everything with our eyes. Samsung looks to enter the future sooner rather than later by including an eye scrolling feature on the GS4. Although this feature hasn’t been confirmed yet, Android.gs reports that Samsung has already filed patents for it.
How does this feature work? Basically, when you’re reading an article (like the one you’re reading now), you won’t have to scroll down in order to read the next page. Instead, you can simply direct your eyes to the bottom of the screen and your GS4 will automatically scroll down for you.
GS3 users will already be somewhat familiar with this feature – the GS3 had an eye detection feature that kept the screen display on as long as the user was looking at the screen. The device was able to detect eye movement and notice when the user was looking at the screen.
Look for eye detection technology to become more and more useful with the powerful front facing sensors on the GS4. Think mobile games that you can control with your eyes. Sweet!
Technical specifications
Here are the meat and potatoes of the Galaxy S4, so to speak. The much anticipated technical specifications of the GS4 were recently confirmed to be:
-4.99-inch screen
-Full HD resolution of 1920×1080
-Exynos 5 Octa 1.8GHz CPU
-2GB of RAM
-PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU
-13MP camera with LED flash
-HD video recording capabilities
-Front facing 2.1MP camera
-16GB and 32GB storage options available
I don’t know about you, but the feature I’m most excited about is a full HD screen. I don’t even have full HD on my laptop, and now my smartphone will have the same resolution as my TV? We’re truly entering the future here.
Two body colors
The Samsung Galaxy S3 came with two body color options: blue and white. The Samsung Galaxy S4 will come with black and white body color options. I never liked the blue color on the GS3, so hopefully the black and white option will present users with two valid body color options. You can’t go wrong with sleek black or clean white, right?
Samsung Galaxy S4 Release Event
The S4 release event will take place on March 14. At that event, Samsung is expected to confirm all of the technical specifications we listed above and everybody will applaud.
It’s unknown when the GS4 would release after that, but it should be within a few weeks. Look for the GS4 to appear on the market in early April. Get excited!
