If you’re reading our One Click Root blog, then you’ve probably used Android at some point in your life. You’ve probably also noticed that Android is a pretty good operating system. It has better customization options than iOS, fantastic desktops, and plenty of other features that make it the most popular mobile OS in the world. But despite being four years old, Android is apparently only one-third complete. In a recent blog post on Google +, Google’s Senior Director of Android User Experience, Matias Duarte, claimed that he has only gone a third of the way to where he wants to go with the Android user interface. Duarte claims that in terms of consistency, responsiveness, and polish, he still has a lot of work to do. Of course, making this statement even more significant is that the Senior Director of Android User Experience is most likely using the latest version of Android – Android 4.1 – which offers a number of usability enhancements. Although it was first released into the Android Open Source Project back in June, Android 4.1 is found on only 1.2% of all devices worldwide.

So if Android 4.1 is only one-third of the way to where Android wants to go in terms of user experience, how far along are the operating systems that most of us are using? 25%? Lower? In any case, Matias Duarte’s statement shows just how ambitious Google is with its Android project. We’ll have to wait until Android 4.1 starts appearing on more devices, but in the meantime, Android is pretty usable as it is. I wonder what the future will hold?
