Want to make your Galaxy Note 5 stand out from the crowd? Sick and tired of your boring black case?

One Reddit user recently posted pictures of a DIY case modification. He was able to turn his Galaxy Note 5 into a clear case without needing to purchase any accessories.

The process isn’t even that complicated.

As you can see in the picture at the top of this page, the clear backed case gives the phone a unique mechanical look.

What You Need

All you need to use this tutorial is a heat gun, a strong suction cup, and a razor blade.

As you can see in the video above, you basically:

-Heat up the backside of your device

-Apply suction to remove the back

-Use the razor blade to peel away the colored film

Once you’ve completed these steps, you reapply the back and you’re left with the clear smartphone listed above.

In the original post on the topic, Skarface08 went into a little more detail about the process:

“You first have to heat it up. I use a Ecoheat gun that gets it really hot, the use a suction cup to pry the back off. After that you let it cool off a bit and take off all the film with a razor blade. Then i just stuck it back on the phone because there was already adhesive on the actual device.”

You Can Even Do it with the Galaxy S6

It’s unlikely you’ll be able to do this on older versions of Galaxy S devices. Samsung radically altered the case design in its 2015 flagships, which is what made transformations like this possible.

You Can’t Do This with the Front Glass

Before you start dreaming of how cool an all-clear Galaxy Note 5 would look, Skarface08 has cautioned that the front glass “wouldn’t work because all you would see is adhesive holding the front on.”
